WorkNest — Project Management SaaS

Complete UI/UX design for a B2B project management platform — team workspaces, task boards, timeline views, reporting dashboards, and a full component library.

Project Details

WorkNest is a project management SaaS targeting 10–200 person teams moving away from spreadsheet-based workflows. The product required designing for extreme information density — multiple projects, many assignees, overlapping deadlines — without overwhelming users. We designed four core views: a Kanban board, a Gantt-style timeline, a list view, and a reporting dashboard, all with consistent interaction patterns and a shared component library of 150+ elements. The onboarding flow was built around a progressive setup wizard that gets a new workspace live in under 5 minutes.

Project Research

We ran a 3-week discovery phase including 30 interviews with project managers, 12 competitive walkthroughs (Asana, Linear, Monday, ClickUp, Notion), and a survey of 150 SaaS users about their biggest project management pain points. The top finding: teams don't leave project tools because of missing features — they leave because the tools feel overwhelming and slow to learn. Our design principle became 'progressive complexity' — simple by default, powerful when needed — with feature discovery driven by usage patterns rather than upfront feature tours.

Project Results

In usability testing across 3 rounds with 24 participants, task completion rates across 8 core flows averaged 94%. Time-to-first-completed-task dropped to 3.1 minutes for new users — the target was under 5 minutes. The design system reduced design-to-dev handoff time by 55% for the engineering team. Investor demo sessions using the prototype converted at a 3× higher rate than the previous wireframe-level prototype, contributing directly to a $1.2M seed round close.
