EduPath — E-Learning Platform

Mobile-first e-learning app design with gamified course progression, interactive lesson players, live cohort sessions, and an AI-powered study assistant.

Project Details

EduPath is a mobile e-learning platform targeting adult professionals completing skills-based courses in 20–30 minute daily sessions. The product competes in a space dominated by Duolingo-style gamification and Udemy-style video lectures — both models that struggle with completion rates. We designed a third path: a cohort-based model where learners progress through structured micro-lessons together, with live weekly sessions, shared discussion spaces, and a gamification layer tied to genuine learning milestones rather than arbitrary streaks. The AI study assistant surfaces personalized review cards based on quiz performance.

Project Research

We analyzed completion rate data from 6 major e-learning platforms — the average sits at 3–5% for self-paced courses. Through 35 interviews with working professionals who had started and abandoned online courses, the consistent answer was the same: isolation and lack of accountability. We designed the cohort model as the primary structural response, with the gamification system designed explicitly to reward collaboration (helping others, peer reviews) alongside individual progress. Three rounds of prototype testing with 20 adult learners confirmed the cohort feed was the highest-value screen in the app.

Project Results

EduPath's beta cohort achieved a 64% course completion rate — 20× the industry average for self-paced learning. Daily active usage averaged 24 minutes per session, 3× the original target of 8 minutes. The AI study assistant was rated the most valuable feature by 71% of beta learners in the exit survey. The gamification system drove 89% of learners to complete at least one peer review per week. The design work contributed to EduPath being accepted into a leading EdTech accelerator program, with the prototype cited as a key factor in the application.
