1 / 3FinTrack — Personal Finance App
End-to-end mobile UI/UX design for a personal finance app featuring budget tracking, smart spending insights, and investment portfolio visualization.
Project Details
FinTrack is a personal finance management app designed to help users track spending, set budgets, and visualize their financial health at a glance. We conducted user research with 40 participants to identify the core friction points in money management — primarily around lack of real-time spending feedback and overwhelming data presentation. The design solution uses a card-based dashboard with progressive disclosure, a color-coded spending ring, and a conversational AI-driven insights panel. The full design system includes 120+ components across light and dark modes, with every screen prototyped and tested before handoff.

Project Research
We interviewed 40 people aged 22–38 who actively tracked finances using spreadsheets or basic banking apps. The top frustration: data was always presented after the fact. We redesigned the information architecture around proactive nudges — showing real-time budget burn rate, flagging unusual spending as it happens, and making savings goals visible on the home screen rather than buried in settings. Usability testing across 3 prototype rounds reduced task completion time for the core budget-setting flow from 4.2 minutes to under 90 seconds.
Project Results
The final design achieved a System Usability Scale (SUS) score of 86 — well above the industry average of 68 for finance apps. In the beta period, 79% of users who onboarded set at least one savings goal within the first session, compared to 31% in the previous version. The spending insights card became the most-interacted element in the app, with 67% of daily active users checking it first each session. The design system accelerated frontend build time by 40% through reusable component specifications.
